Jason was right on time - rush hour traffic is less of an issue when you're on a bike, particularly along the Monon. Jason has biked to job on Monument Circle for four years. Indianapolis - I've always had a bike - as a kid, I rode it everywhere. Tuesday night, I got my bike out, pumped up the tires and made a list of what to stuff in my backpack. Then what to wear on the bike. But biking to work. During my college years, I used my old Schwinn LeTour to get around campus and to summer jobs. Kevin Whited with IndyCog suggested I hook up with Jason French, a Northsider who rides to his downtown job every day. This is the biggest deterrent for me - figuring out how to get clothes, shoes, make-up, toiletries, a hair dryer, lunch and whatever else all in one modestly-sized backpack. We agreed to meet along the Monon at 7:30 Wednesday morning.
