Owner: Pat's Cyclery's move from Mesa 'hard'

Pat’s Cyclery, a business fixture on Mesa’s Main Street for more than half a century, has moved — not just off Main Street but outside Mesa entirely.

Changing demographics prompted owners Ken and Don Patterson to move to a new location in the Gilbert Gateway Towne Center at Power Road and the Santan Freeway section of Loop 202.

The location is within the Gilbert town limits, although the shopping center carries a Mesa address from the viewpoint of the U.S. Postal Service, and the business continues to use Mesa in its advertising.

Livin’ Strong in Philadelphia With Team Fatty

When I was packing clothes and tools and nutritional blobs, I almost left without a book. The family wasn’t going to be joining me, and I rarely see a movie these days that doesn’t star Julie Andrews or come from Pixar, so I was looking forward to settling in at the hotel and consuming something with guns and swearing and car chases and whoopie-makin’. I was up at 4:28 a.m. on Sunday, two minutes ahead of my alarm clock. I got dressed, slammed some juice, joyfully spalmed up , washed my hands, and headed to the Doubletree to meet the morning rollout squad. Thirty of forty of us were assembled out front, including one intrepid rider on an Xtracycle, much to my delight.

I want advice for a new bike similar to my Schwinn High Plains?

Look at it this way. You buy one of the two frames. Get one that fits you best and lightest.

no. Neither. Most schwinns are crappy, with the exception of the paramount, and cheap new bikes suck also. Check out craigslist and find something better.

Schwinn bikes made some fairly good road, but were also others who were not so great.
