There were, in fact, multiple rental shops set up for exactly that; though we did notice that the prices went up exponentially the closer you got to the sandbar. I don't know why people wouldn't do exactly what we did and walk 20m back to get it half price (and though the thought did cross my mind that it had something to do with our place asking us to leave some valuables behind while we were off biking, I can safely say that this was just a precaution to ensure our return.)
