The good news is that the bike and I are not too bad. I'm just bruised up a little and all the typical right side stuff like the mirror, saddle bag, and case guard cover on the ST are road rashed. My jacket and helmet have some road rash ase well. I priced out new parts...about $600 or I could get cheap and do the body-work and paint myself for a little more than half that. I think I'll just pay the price.
I had the bike loaded down with camping gear and slid on some spilled fuel turning right at an intersection. We (my son and I) just picked the bike up, popped the windshield back on and continued our trip. This is not the first time I dumped a bike because of some schmuck...

 Not only do these lanes instantly become one of the city’s longest on-street bike routes, the lanes goes straight to SAIT and then into downtown and — and this is the unique part for Calgary — they feature bike intersections. Not only does the importance of bike lanes need to imparted on motorists if the lanes are to succeed, they need to be explained. Those who aren’t followers of the urban cycling movement are expressing some confusion about those bike intersections. It does clear up many of the questions about the bike intersections (if you can understand the illustrations). What’s a bike box. As both a bicycle rider and a car driver, I can’t help but wonder the logic with all the new Bicycle lanes. Why are there two cycling lanes on parts of the street. l leave that debate out of this blog and focus on the lanes from the perspective of a cyclist.
