Road Race Bike

Cycling teams race downtown

About 260 bikers went for a ride around town this past weekend at the 15th annual Swamp Classic.

The two-day road race was sponsored by UF’s bike club Team Florida, the city of Gainesville and local businesses, and races were held for all ages and skill levels.

“It’s like a little moving circus,” said Kenny Duffield, 21, who came by to check out the event. “It’s different. I’m not used to seeing bike culture like this.”

Roadtrips and Other Amusements

Well we finally arrived in Penticton, and after some 12 hours of flying and driving I can finally put my feet up. Some really cute girl drove me to the airport this morning – have to get her number! Both flights were uneventful which is always a good thing. I did feel that the further north I got the fatter people became. I wonder if there’s really a correlation?

Other amusements from today: A wild turkey crossing (why, oh why did you not just fly across the road?), a deer eating the meticulously manicured grass and flower signpost at the entrance to some town, and Michael, Susan, and I sitting in the car, parked outside what we *think* is the correct house, wondering how we could have gotten something wrong since no lights were on in the front and no cars were in the driveway… Finally I walked up to the front door after a good 15 minutes of pondering and found a sticky note: “Out to dinner, come on in!”.

What are the benefits of steel tube road race bike frames to carbon or aluminium?

I wonder why my beloved Cinelli produces images Columbus steel tube for road and track ...

In a word .....

Steel gives a comfortable ride, but usually heavier than aluminum or carbon
Good for long distance, easy to repair.

steel frames can be very rigid and easy to manufacture and repair.

Although the answer above is correct to say that steel can be very rigid, steel-frame bikes tend to be less rigid and "Buzzy" than aluminum frames.

What road race bike should I buy between brands and carbon or aluminum?

I'd like a more classic design. I want it to go places (traveling), beginner training level, everyday cycling, etc.

the question is how much do you want to spend on bike?
