Idaho does have rather harsh winters, and the spring tends to be rather wet, as well, so the ideal time to go biking in Idaho is during the summer or beginning fall months, from about May through October. While the season is somewhat limited, the mountains, rivers, and gorgeous views in the state make up for the short biking season. And with more than 19,000 miles of trails statewide-with trails for riders at all levels of skill and experience-Idaho is a great place to go biking!

For a long, easy trek, try out the 11-mile looped trail at Mink Creek Recreation Area. Not far from Pocatello, they call this the Valve or Pump House Trail, and many beginners get their start here. The terrain isn’t too technical, but it will give you a long run and get your heart pumping, so don’t forget your water bottles.

SRAM have unveiled their first mountain bike wheels – the carbon-rimmed RISE 60 . ” SRAM's designers came to the conclusion that balance is the key to great mountain bike wheels. and SRAM's solution for the RISE 60 (the RISE 40 has a standard freehub) is impressive. weighs 1,330g, with the 29er version tipping the scales at a respectable 1,420g. The RISE 40 wheelsets weigh 1,710g. They identified six main factors that had to be addressed –  weight, inertia, engagement, lateral stiffness, frontal stiffness and efficiency. and three pawls in the freehub that each have three teeth, the mechanism. The 26in RISE 60. Two years in the making, both sets feature asymmetric 19mm-wide, 26mm-deep rims, fast-engaging rear hubs and a choice of axle fitments. and aluminum RISE 40. According to SRAM's wheel product manager Bastien. Hub engagement was seen as the next key attribute.
