Lupcho said there are a number of 24-hour mountain bike races, but 25 Hours of Frog Hollow is the longest due to daylight savings extending the day by an hour. Along with his teammates, Keagan Swenson (17), Nate Miller (29), and Chris Peters (32), Lupcho (43) was part of Team Pig Hunt, which completed 27 laps on the Jem trail in inclement conditions. For the second year in a row, Vernal’s Troy Lupcho rode on the winning team at the world’s longest one-day mountain bike race, 25 Hours of Frog Hollow, in Hurricane, Utah. Team Pig Hunt averaged 1 hour and 25 minutes per lap, after setting a course record last year with 40 minutes per lap. Lupcho described a frenzied race to change out of rain-soaked gear to avoid hypothermia, do bike maintenance, and force fluids and supplements down in between laps. Lupcho and his teammates won despite a more grueling race schedule than most of the teams they competed against, which brought five riders, enabling them to complete two laps and go rest.
