Hawaii Auto Problems

Cultures invent words for the things that become important to them. Thai has a huge array of words for precisely describing the moods and emotional states of people, for instance. Hawaiian has various words to describe different types of rains, such as “kauanoe” and “kanilehua.”

In recent years, modern residents of Hawai’i Island have started inventing new terms for traffic patterns: the Five O’Clock Derby, the Kainaliu Crawl….
Hawai’i Island’s traffic eats thousands of hours out of its residents’ lives every day. With most of the island’s population crowded along a thin necklace of coastal highways; with most of its affordable housing on one side of the island and most of its job-generating resorts on the other side; and with runaway growth outstripping its infrastructure, the island could be a poster child for poor traffic planning. One of the greatest challenges for the administration of Mayor Harry Kim, as he enters his second four-year term, will be untangling the massive traffic snarls that have resulted out of decades of bad governmental decisions.

Logistical Nightmare: Norco Shore 1 Build

More setbacks on the bike front.  Turns out I ordered the wrong rear shock.  Luckily PP (pricepoint.com) is really good with returns, but now there’s confusion on what I need.  The DHX 5.0 was taken out of the lineup for 2010 and its not available in the size I need on any reputable bike sites anymore.  Its been replaced with the RC4, which, in addition to being $100+ more, no one can tell if it will fit on an ‘09 Shore 1.  Called Fox and PP and they don’t know.  Norco doesn’t appear to have a direct customer service line to call and the couple of official Norco dealers I tried were useless.  I’m going to try to see if I can buy the shock off the guy who sold

Does anyone here use a Kona mountain bike as a commuter?

They gave me a Kona. Not a bike with disc brakes and quick release wheels front. I love it.

Anyway, I'll use as a commuter.

na it will work properly, may want to get street tires for it, maybe a few layers if you're sure you'll be riding floor only. Set your fork very firm.
