The Honda DN-01, which is rolling into U.S. dealerships this week, lets riders do away with hand-squeezing a clutch and foot-shifting through gears when they're also trying to stay balanced, navigate traffic and coordinate accelerating and braking.

The DN, which stands for "Dream New," is angling for two seemingly opposite ends of the market: New riders who want to feel the wind in their hair without a clutch in their hands; and seasoned riders who want to be the Joneses with whom everyone else aspires to keep pace.

It's an experiment, though. And priced at $14,599 in a down economy, it's probably more of an experiment than Honda was intending.

Knowles has experience building high-end custom race bikes, and races mountain bikes. The shop carries multiple brands of path bikes, cruisers and race bikes for children and adults. Aside from his own biking preference, Knowles assures that All Spoked Up will carry and service all makes and models, including Schwinn, GT, Kona, and more. His three young sons all race mountain bikes, and his eldest son, Nathan, 10, is ranked nationally in the sport. The new bicycle shop sits right off the bike path, below Andres Restaurant, and tucked behind Wilson Street. All Spoked Up is a retail bicycle sales and repair store, and Knowles said the main focus is customer service. Knowles, who also owns Norway Bicycle Co. , opened the shop in late December with business partner Scott Jessup of Chicago. Knowles is a partner at All Spoked Up at 3 Webster St. in Batavia.
