Wheelbase
There are 3 main types of recumbent bicycles. One of the easiest to ride when you’re getting started is the long wheelbase (LWB) model. LWB models have the pedals located between the front and rear wheels while the short wheelbase (SWB) models have the pedals in front of the front wheel. Some people find the SWB a bit harder to learn to ride when they first start out on a recumbent. And lastly, compact long wheelbase (CLWB) models are those that have the pedals either very close to the front wheel or above it. Within these styles are many variations and intermediate types.
